Accessibility

We want everybody to be able to use this website, whatever device you are on and however you browse. Health information is no use to anyone if they cannot read it.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is the standard UK public bodies are held to, and we hold ourselves to it too.

What we have done

• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and there is a “skip to content” link at the top
• Text can be enlarged to twice the size without anything being lost, and the layout reflows on a small screen
• Colours are chosen so that text stands out clearly against its background
• Headings are used in order so a screen reader can move through a page properly
• Photographs carry a text description, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers
• Forms have labels, and errors are announced rather than only shown in red
• Motion is gentle, and we respect your device’s “reduce motion” setting

Known limits

• Some older PDF and Word documents may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will send you the content in another format
• Donations are taken on our donation partner’s pages, which we do not control. Tell us if you have trouble there and we will take your gift another way
• We test with real assistive technology as often as we can, but we are a small team and may miss something

Getting the content another way

If anything on this site is hard for you to use, we can send it as large print, plain text, or read it to you over the phone. Email Info@duet.org.uk or call 01252 844868 and just say what would help.

Telling us about a problem

Email Info@duet.org.uk with the page address and what went wrong. We aim to reply within five working days and to fix accessibility problems as a priority. If you are not happy with our response, our complaints and feedback page explains how to take it further, and you can also contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service on 0808 800 0082.
