Explaining health research clearly
Good science is wasted if nobody can understand it. We fund communication and education that helps the public, patients and clinicians make sense of the evidence.
Health research is published for other researchers. That is reasonable, but it leaves a gap: the person deciding whether to start a medicine, join a study or worry about a headline has to work it out from summaries written by someone else.
Communication and education projects are chronically hard to fund. They rarely produce a publication, they don't lead to a product, and they fall between the priorities of research funders and of the NHS.
Duet treats them as research outputs in their own right. We support training that helps scientists explain their work, community sessions that answer real questions, and resources for teachers, students and patient groups.
