A UK charity backing under-served health research

Duet Health Foundation

Our work

We fund useful health research that has nowhere else to go

Duet supports projects that are practical, deliverable and unlikely to attract commercial sponsorship or a government grant. We give money, and we give time.

Rare diseases

Finding rare diseases sooner

A rare disease can take years to name. We fund the practical work that shortens that wait, from better tests to clearer referral routes.

  • Simpler, quicker diagnostic tests that can be used outside specialist centres
  • Studies small enough to be passed over by commercial funders, but big enough to change care
  • Plain-English information for families waiting for answers

Medicines and side effects

Making medicines easier to live with

Medicines only work if people can keep taking them. We support research into side effects and how they can be prevented, spotted and managed.

  • Understanding why side effects affect some people and not others
  • Practical ways for patients and pharmacists to manage side effects together
  • Honest, readable guidance about what to expect from a new medicine

Research and education

Explaining health research clearly

Good science is wasted if nobody can understand it. We fund communication and education that helps the public, patients and clinicians make sense of the evidence.

  • Training for researchers who want to explain their work to non-specialists
  • Community sessions that answer real questions about health and medicines
  • Resources for teachers, students and patient groups

How we fund projects

We are small enough to make decisions quickly and to say honestly when something isn't for us.

  1. 1

    Tell us about it early

A single page is enough: what you want to do, roughly what it costs, and why it hasn't been funded elsewhere. No long application forms.

  2. 2

    We look at it properly

Our founders and trustees assess the science themselves, and we speak to clinicians or patient groups where it helps. We reply to every enquiry.

  3. 3

    Money and hands-on help

Successful projects get funding, plus advice on study design, regulation and communication, and introductions through our network.

  4. 4

    Honest reporting

We ask for short, plain updates rather than lengthy reports, and we publish what the work found — including when it didn't work.

Support Duet

Small charity, practical help

Duet is funded by our founders and by people who believe useful research should not stall for want of a modest amount of money. Every gift goes into projects.
