Duet announces its first three grants

Three small projects — a faster diagnostic pilot, a side-effects clinic study and a schools programme — will share our first round of funding.

Duet has confirmed its first three grants, following six months of conversations with researchers, clinicians and patient groups across the UK.

The first supports a pilot of a simplified diagnostic test for a group of rare metabolic conditions, designed so that it can be run in a district hospital rather than a specialist centre.

The second funds a study with community pharmacists looking at how side effects are recorded and acted upon in the first month of a new prescription.

The third supports a small programme helping sixth-form students and their teachers read and question published health research.

All three were chosen because they are practical, achievable within two years, and unlikely to be funded elsewhere.

Small charity, practical help

Duet is funded by our founders and by people who believe useful research should not stall for want of a modest amount of money. Every gift goes into projects.
